The Client

Trésor Caché (Hidden Treasure in English) is a premium cosmetics brand looking to take on the Nigerian and African Market, as well as its diaspora. The client hopes to help black women find those gems that accentuate darker skin tones. From everyday staples and nudes to pigmented color ranges that display the beauty in our skin.

The Brief

The Trésor Caché woman is elegant, sophisticated and modern and we wanted this to be the brand for her. The client challenged us to develop a visual design system that allowed the target audience see themselves in the brand. The brand was to embody certain elements, including femininity, luxury, elegance but still approachable.

Our approach

Our first call was to try and pinpoint the brand’s purpose at this early phase, whilst still giving it room for growth and iterations. Trésor Caché is a brand that puts black women in a light we want to see her more - confident and transformative. For this reason we designed a simple but authoritative logo in three key colour lock-ups. The black in the colour palette exudes elegance and luxury, while playing on the ‘treasure’ aspect of the brand name inspired the Trésor Gold. We stayed away from harsher golds and went softer because the client wants the brand to be quite accessible. In the end, presenting a brand system the client is confident in presenting to the world.
